Mother Teresa birth anniversary

Mother Teresa was such a generous soul that when she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, she refused the prize money of $192,000 and asked for it to be donated to the poor in India. On her birth anniversary read some inspiring quotes by the Saint.

Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa, born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. Born on August 26, 1910 to a family of ethnic Albanians in Skopje, Mother Teresa left her home for Irelands’s Rathfarnham at the age of 18 to join the Sisters of Loreto. She wanted to learn English in the hopes of becoming a missionary, and English was the language of instruction for the Sisters of Loreto in India.

Mother Teresa came to India in 1929, and after a period of teaching at St. Teresa’s School in Darjeeling, she took her first religious vows on 24 May 1931.She later went on to teach at a school in Kolkata, where she served for almost two decades. However, serving the poor and needy was Mother Teresa’s true calling and in 1948 she began her journey of serving the poor and the needy. In 1950 she founded the Roman Catholic religious congregation which later went on to be known as Missionaries of Charity. During her life Mother Teresa set up many homes for the poor, needy, those dying from AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis all over India, and according to 2013 reports Missionaries of Charity has expanded to 700 missions in 130 countries, providing aid and support to the needy and diseased.

Mother Teresa was such a generous soul that when she won the Nobel Peace Prize “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitutes a threat to peace” in 1979, she refused the prize money of $192,000 and asked for it to be donated to the poor in India. In 2017, she was posthumously canonized as a Patron Saint by the Vatican Pope for her service to the needy and poor.

On her birth anniversary, let us read some inspiring quotes by the Saint and hope we can imbibe some of her values. Read on:

I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, ‘How many good things have you done in your life?’ rather he will ask, ‘How much love did you put into what you did?

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

Love cannot remain by itself – it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service.

If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are.

If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.

Be aware of China Brands

The smartphones come pre-instaleld with xHelper and Triada that use up data and subscribe the user to paid subscriptions without their knowledge.

Pre-installed malware steals data and money.

Chinese-made smartphones are known to offer good specs at affordable prices. There are brands like Xiaomi and Realme that cater to such needs especially in the budget range. Turns out one Chinese brand which offered even cheaper smartphones was actually stealing data and even money from users.

The brand in question is Tecno that is offered by the company Transsion Holdings. The company has two more brands (Itel and Infinix) through which it offers entry-level budget phones. Tecno and Infinix are quite popular in India but another market where it’s hugely popular is Africa. And this is where the whole incident took place according to an investigation by Secure-D, a mobile security service and BuzzFeed.

It was discovered that in one particular Tecno W2 phone there were two malware, xHelper and Triada. This led to apps being downloaded on the phone without the user’s knowledge that also tried to subscribe to paid services. The user found that his prepaid data was consumed and he also received messages about paid subscriptions which he never signed up for.

Transsion did confirm the existence of Triada and xHelper malware on some Tecno W2 phones. But the company put the blame on a vendor in the supply chain, Buzzfeed reported. Transsion also said that it did not get any profit from the malware. It also declined to say how many of its phones were infected with the malware. According to Secure-D, its security system blocked a total of 844,000 fraudulent transactions that took place due to pre installed malware on Transsion phones between March and December last year.

Secure-D had also discovered Alcatel smartphones offered by TCL Communication that came with pre-installed malware. The same was found in its phones sold in Brazil and Myanmar that used malware for fraudulent transactions. Alcatel is not available in India, but like Infinix and Tecno it offers some crazy specs at entry-level prices.

GIONEE M30 GOES OFFICIAL WITH 10,000MAH BATTERY AND ANDROID NOUGAT

 Gionee M30

In 2020 we can pretty much say that lovers of battery are finally getting served with the 4,000mAh capacity becoming a standard on smartphones. There are even companies that are starting to push the 5,000mAh capacities. The more the better one would say, and based on this Gionee wants to serve all the battery enthusiasts with a new smartphone packing a massive 10,000mAh battery – The Gionee M30.

One month ago, we saw the Gionee M30 visiting the TENAA certification agency with this massive battery. The name was a mystery on that occasion, but now it has been fully revealed by the Chinese phone maker. The smartphone boasts the giant, monstrous, 10,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Despite this, the phone has a sleek design with an aluminum frame and back. Despite this, we have one of the heaviest devices in the market tipping the scale at 305 grams. However, this is a sacrifice that you’ll certainly accept for the sake of battery life.

GIONEE M30 SPECIFICATIONS

The Gionee M30 flaunts a 6-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution. The low resolution certainly will make the battery lasts even more. Under the hood, we have the MediaTek Helio P60 Octa-core plus 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Expandable storage. The chipset is a little bit old right now, but it’s still better than having an Helio P22 on this handset. After all, why we would need a big battery if the phone can’t handle intensive tasks? The Helio P60 can run all apps without any problem though we’re not certain about its gaming capabilities. While it may run games like PUBG, don’t expect it to support the highest quality settings.

The phone comes with a 16MP main camera and 8MP front snapper with face unlock support. There is a fingerprint scanner on the leather-texturized back. Gionee states that this phone comes with a dedicated chip for memory encryption. It’s a dual-SIM phone with LTE connectivity. The phone packs a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. Thankfully it has USB Type-C port, although the company didn’t specify if there is a fast-charging technology employed to charge this battery. We hope so, after all, getting a 10,000mAh fully charged would be a problem for a limited charging capability. We don’t expect more than 18W though.

Curiously, Gionee didn’t reveal the Android version on this smartphone. And this just confirms our biggest fears – It comes with Android Nougat. One month ago, TENAA revealed the phone with the 2016’s Android version. We can understand, why Gionee is so shy about revealing the truth. The Gionee M30 will retail for CNY 1,399 ($202). Sales start on August 31.

Galaxy For PS4 Vinyl Skin Sticker Cover For PS4 Playstation 4 ...

Playing games all day sounds like something you'd do on your day off.

But what if you could do it AND get paid for the pleasure?

PlayStation Europe is hiring and the office less than an hour away from Manchester.

However, with a few of the vacancies, being fluent in a second language including Brazilian, Russian or Arabic is preffered.

The company, which has an office in Liverpool where the roles are being advertised, is looking for a functional test lead as well as three localisation testers.

The job ads begin by saying: "PlayStation isn't just the Best Place to Play — it's also the Best Place to Work.

"We've thrilled gamers since 1994, when we launched the original PlayStation. Today, we’re recognised as a global leader in interactive and digital entertainment.

"The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation."

Sold already? Here's what you need to know about the roles on offer.

The functional test lead will be responsible for coordinating all functionality project specific activities on your assigned projects within PlayStation Studios.

It says that you will get to work on groundbreaking hardware and video-games within a large multicultural, multi region team which in turn will help the company drive and build the future of games and games testing.

The ideal candidate will need to fit the bill which includes excellent communication, organisational and social skills as well as, it goes without saying, a passion for video-games.

The company says that it's "nice to have" PlayStation platform knowledge and the ability to speak Japanese.

As for the localisation testers, the role will see you making sure the audio and text in a video game are correct.

You will need to have native level knowledge for the required language (grammar, spelling, and punctuation) - which in this case is  Brazilian, Russian or Arabic - and good attention to detail to find and provide corrections for errors.

Occasionally, you will also translate text for a video game or marketing.

The job ad asks: "Do you have a passion for languages and games? Do you enjoy finding linguistic mistakes in video games?

"Would you like to be part of an international team whose work has impact on players around the world? Then we would love to hear from you!"

A salary hasn't been specified on the advert but the hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, working 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Interested? You can apply for the job on  Indeed or on the PlayStation Europe website.

LG Q92 5G ANNOUNCED WITH SNAPDRAGON 765G AND PUNCH-HOLE DISPLAY

 LG Q92 5G

LG has a plan to bring some fresh air for its struggling smartphone division. The company started with the release of the LG Velvet 5G a smartphone featuring a 2020 design language, good cameras, and 5G connectivity. Unfortunately, its 5G connectivity does not come by the use of a Snapdragon 865 SoC, but thanks to the Snapdragon 765G. LG is aware of the fact that the LG Velvet 5G alone won’t be enough to attract a wave of customers. For that reason, the company wants to revamp its mid-range portfolio with smartphones offering support for the fifth-gen networks. Based on this, the company announced the LG Q92 5G which is a more affordable smartphone featuring the very same Snapdragon 765G chipset.

LG Q92 5G SPECIFICATIONS

As aforementioned the LG Q92 5G boasts the Snapdragon 765G chipset which not only is a 5G SoC, but also delivers an excellent performance thanks to its 2.4GHz Octa-Core nature. The processing power is paired with 6GB of RAM. We have 128GB of Internal Storage and the phone supports microSD card expansion. These specifications are built around a 6.67-inch display with a centered punch-hole housing a 32MP selfie snapper. The panel boasts Full HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and is of the LCD kind. The Velvet ships with an AMOLED display, so we can see LG cutting some corners in the display.

Moving around to the back, we have a Quad-Camera set up in a rather unusual alignment. The setup is composed of a 48MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide module, a 5MP depth helper, and a 2MP macro camera. The handset draws power from a 4,000mAh battery with 15W charging and USB-C port. The charging capabilities aren’t the most impressive in the market, we would prefer at least 18W for this battery.

The phone also comes with IP68 and MIL-STD-810 water/dust resistance. Software is headlined by an Android 10-based LG UX 9. Other features include NFC, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0. The phone overall dimensions are 166.5 x 77.3 x 8.5 mm and it weighs 193 grams.

LG Q92 5G

According to the company’s press release, the new smartphone will be available in South Korea on August 26. Sales will start on that date and the phone will be available for KRW 499,000 that is just around $420. Unfortunately, there’s no official word regarding International availability. However, September may be a good month for a Global release considering IFA.

“Smooth Scrolling” feature for Realme phones

The feature is present under Settings >Realme Lab.

Realme X3

Realme’s “Smooth Scrolling” feature is now being gradually rolled out to a number of Realme smartphones. Going by the company’s statement, Realme users will experience “a visually smoother, faster effect when scrolling content downwards or upwards” after enabling the Smooth Scrolling option.

XDA-Developers report that the feature feels more like a software emulated fluid scroll animation which takes effect as soon as you start to scroll within an app. The feature is said to become more visible when you are going through an infinite scroll feed, like the one on Facebook or Twitter.

The Smooth Scrolling toggle can be found under Settings >Realme Lab. It is yet to come out as a stable feature as “Realme Lab” is a special module of Realme UI through which the company conducts pilot tests of work-in-progress OS functionalities. However, these Realme smartphones are receiving the latest feature:

  • Realme 3 Pro
  • Realme 5 Pro
  • Realme X
  • Realme XT
  • Realme X2

New Poco phone with 64MP camera, 33W fast charging spotted on FCC

New Poco phone coming soon.

Poco has been teasing the launch of a new smartphone. It has so far hinted on a higher refresh rate possibly 120Hz. Now a new Poco smartphone has appeared on the FCC website revealing some of its key specifications.

The Poco smartphone on FCC carries the model number M2007J20CG. The listing reveals the Poco branding at the rear and the camera module cutout as well. It’s a circular camera design similar to the Poco X2. This hints at the possibility that it could be the Poco X3. The schematic also mentions “64MP AI super camera” confirming that the phone will house a 64-megapixel primary sensor. Overall, it could be a quad camera setup.

More details in the listing show that this Poco phone will pack a 5,160mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. This is an upgrade over the Poco X2 which has a 4,500mAh battery with 27W fast charging speed. The new Poco phone will also come with 4G support and Bluetooth 5.1. The 64MP camera and 33W charging speed have been rumoured earlier for the new Poco phone.

There’s no official teaser yet for the upcoming Poco phone but the company’s global spokesperson Angus Kai Ho Ng has been dropping some hints. He has so far confirmed that a new Poco phone is coming soon. Poco X2 already supports 120Hz so this one will most likely support it too. But the difference here would be an AMOLED panel and not LCD like the Poco X2. The new Poco phone is said to offer 120Hz refresh rate on an AMOLED display. Poco is also pitting its new phone with the OnePlus Nord which is available in India at 24,999.

WhatsApp Storage Usage tools

WhatsApp is likely to redesign its Storage Usage section found in the Settings menu. As reported by WABetaInfo, the revamped Storage Usage section will include tools for you to delete unnecessary media an free up the app space, which will eventually free up your smartphone's space.

As per a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, the Storage Usage section will three sections. The first section, that is the top section will feature a storage bar that will indicate the space taken by the Facebook-owned messaging app in the form of WhatsApp Media or anything else. The second section will help you free up storage as part of the 'suggested clean-up.' The section will list down large and forwarded filed and you will be able to sort them out and delete the not-so-important media. Lastly, the third section will enlist WhatsApp chats with an added functionality of searching the desired chat

WhatsApp is said to be under the development of the feature as it is still improving it. Hence, we can expect more changes and additions in the final version of the feature.

The Storage Usage tools are expected to roll out for Android users first and then for the iOS users. However, there is no word on the exact availability. So, stay tuned for more updates on the same

SP Balasubrahmanyam's son SP Charan shares health update: Everything seems normal, he is responding to treatment

SP Balasubrahmanyam's son SP Charan shares health update: Everything seems normal, he is responding to treatment

SP Balasubrahmanyam is admitted to a hospital in Chennai after he tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month

New Delhi: Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam's son SP Charan on Tuesday said that his father is responding to treatment and everything seems well. SP Balasubrahmanyam is admitted to a hospital in Chennai after he tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month. In a video message shared on Instagram, SP Charan said, "Everything seems normal. He is responding to the doctors and the treatment... He is almost 90 per cent out of sedation. I cannot say enough that we as a family are grateful for all the love and affection and the prayers that have come my father's way."

He added, "I'm grateful to the MGM Healthcare and the doctors who are diligently working on my father and his treatments and make sure that he is going to recover from this illness. Thank you all once again. Hopefully, we will see my father as early as possible."

The 74-year-old veteran singer tested positive for COVID-19 on August 5. He had mild symptoms initially, but a few days later, his condition deteriorated and he had to be shifted to the ICU.

In his message, SP Charan also explained to people why he posts updates on SP Balasubrahmanyam's health only in English despite people telling him to speak in Tamil.

"The reason I chose to speak in English is because dad has a lot of fans across the country. For me to put up these posts in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam or other languages he has sung in is very time-consuming. I am in between prayers, doctors and putting up updates for his fans. So please understand," he said.

SP Balasubrahmanyam has over 40,000 songs to his credit in over 16 Indian languages. He has been honoured with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and multiple National Awards. He has contributed as a playback singer, music director, actor, dubbing artist, film producer, predominantly in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

What is world's fastest internet speed? It can download entire Netflix library in less than 1 second

New Delhi: Researchers from University College London (UCL) in the UK have claimed that they have achieved the world's fastest internet data transmission rate, a speed which would make it possible to download the entire Netflix library in less than a second.

The researchers from University College London (UCL) in the UK achieved a data transmission rate of 178 terabits a second -- five times faster than the previous record.

The record, described in a research paper published in the journal IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, is double the capacity of any system currently deployed in the world.

“Working with two companies, Xtera and KDDI Research, the research team led by Dr Lidia Galdino (UCL Electronic & Electrical Engineering), achieved a data transmission rate of 178 terabits a second (178,000,000 megabits a second) – a speed at which it would be possible to download the entire Netflix library in less than a second,” according to a statement by UCL.

The record, is double the capacity of any system currently deployed in the world, UCL said. It was achieved by transmitting data through a much wider range of colours of light, or wavelengths, than is typically used in optical fibre, the researchers said.

The researchers combined different amplifier technologies needed to boost the signal power over this wider bandwidth and maximised speed by developing new Geometric Shaping (GS) constellations, manipulating the properties of each individual wavelength.

The new record, demonstrated in a lab, is a fifth faster than the previous world record held by a team in Japan, the researchers said.

At this speed, it would take less than an hour to download the data that made up the world's first image of a black hole, they said.

The speed is close to the theoretical limit of data transmission set out by American mathematician Claude Shannon in 1949, according to the researchers.

“The benefit of the technique is that it can be deployed on already existing infrastructure cost-effectively, by upgrading the amplifiers that are located on optical fibre routes at 40-100km intervals. (Upgrading an amplifier would cost £16,000, while installing new optical fibres can, in urban areas, cost up to £450,000 a kilometre.),” UCL said.

"While current state-of-the-art cloud data-centre interconnections are capable of transporting up to 35 terabits a second, we are working with new technologies that utilise more efficiently the existing infrastructure," Lead author Dr Galdino, a Lecturer at UCL and a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow, said .

Oppo A53 arrives in India: Snapdragon 460, 90Hz HD+ screen, and 5,000 mAh battery

The prices of all iPhone SE 2020 models listed on Flipkart show a discounted price.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 is now being officially assembled in India. The Cupertino, California-based US tech giant, which recently hit the $2 trillion market cap, has confirmed that its latest affordable iPhone model is being assembled in India.

One of Apple’s suppliers, Wistron, is assembling the iPhone SE 2020 in its Karnataka facility. In an emailed statement shared with Gadgets360, Apple said, “iPhone SE packs our most powerful chip into our most popular size at our most affordable price and we're excited to be making it in India for our local customers.”

The move would essentially help Apple save the 20 percent duty levied upon by the government on imports. Furthermore, assembling more iPhones in India would also help Apple reduce its reliance on manufacturing plants based in China.

The benefits seem to have been passed to the consumers. The prices of all iPhone SE 2020 models listed on Flipkart show a discounted price.
